Abstract

Senile cataract is an age-related decrease in vision caused by clouding of the lens due to thickening and denaturation of the lens. Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation is one of the most widely used surgical methods worldwide and is very effective in the treatment of cataracts. Keratometry, axial length, anterior chamber depth and central corneal thickness, and lens thickness were measured before phacoemulsification. These measurements are very important to achieve visual quality improvement for the patients. The purpose of this study was to describe of distribution ocular the biometric parameters before phacoemulsification surgery with intraocular lens implantation. This study used a descriptive research method with a cross-sectional design approach with 1032 patients. Axial length, ACD, CCT, LT, K were determined with partial laser interferometry (IOL Master 700). The results of the study showed 55.3% were male, 45,1 % were 61-70 years old, 75,6% were immature senile cataracts, 39.7 % were normal body mass index. The mean and standard deviations K, AL, ACD, CCT, and LT were (44.19±1.49), (23.50±1.21), (3.22±0.42), (522±35.27) and (4.35±0.67). There were statically significant differences when comparing K, AL, and ACD by sex. Axial length, ACD, CCT, and LT were correlated with age. The biometric parameters are influenced by gender, age, and senile cataract stage.
