Faktor Risiko Sindrom Impostor di Lingkungan Pendidikan Kedokteran
Abstract
Impostor syndrome is a psychological disorder in which a person thinks that their success is merely a lie and considers their success to be based on luck. The incidence of impostor syndrome in the world is quite high, especially among medical students, and is often associated with mental health, family factors, habits, and educational stage. The purpose of this article is to discuss the risk factors for impostor syndrome in medical students through a literature review. The search was conducted using the keywords “impostor syndrome,” “mental health,” and “medical students” along with the inclusion criteria of articles from the last 10 years in both Indonesian and English with full text access. There were 10 articles that contained various risk factors for impostor syndrome in medical students. This literature study concluded that risk factors associated with impostor syndrome in medical students consist of mental and psychological disorders such as stress, depression, anxiety, burnout, and perfectionism. In addition, family factors, gender, procrastination, competitive education system and the transition from preclinical to clinical students increase the risk of impostor syndrome in medical students.
